Naarm/Melbourne-based songwriter effe releases her debut EP, Solder, a five-track collection exploring longing, love and heartbreak. Blending futuristic bedroom pop with moody trip-hop, the EP captures the complexities of romance.
effe reflects:
“Last year I fell in love for the first time. I made these songs in fragments. I was reflecting a lot on the previous experiences I had dating, which were confusing, frustrating, and sometimes crushing.”
Alongside Solder, effe shares ‘Tears Always Burn’, a track reflecting on the connection between human emotion and bodies of water.
“I’ve always loved that our tears are salty because we evolved from marine creatures, so in a way, we have a part of the ocean inside us all. And when you have one of those body shaking sobs, it can really feel like you are crying out the entire ocean. These two ideas shaped the concept of the song.”
